Cancun is still at the top of traveler’s list
Despite economical crisis, Cancun is still Mexico’s top beach destination with a growing number of visitors per year. This holiday season, the occupancy rate was of more than 90% and experts are waiting a 85% for next winter.
The main reason for this constant-increasing tourism is that this Caribbean destination offers great deals specially for US citizens due to the decreasing peso, being of 10 in respect to the dollar last year and now 14 to the dollar; additionally the price of fuel are dropping, making airplane tickets a lot cheaper.
It is also the ideal place for everyone, specially springbreakers,, the beaches are awesome and money seems to go a long way. Orbitz Worldwide Inc., a leading global online travel company, has informed that there has never been a better time to travel to Mexico than right now.

A magic place that embraces our country’s nature
By Lucy Uriostegui
I visited Xcaret Park on my vacations. I was impressed by the beautiful nature of this place and mostly the care towards flora and fauna. Moreover, it is place with the special magic of our ancestors. I could fill my day with incredible activities like snorkeling, swimming with dolphins, visiting the aquarium, watching the sharks, turtles or simply sunbathing on the beach. The restaurants have excellent food for all types of palates.
What I loved most was to swim in the natural underwater river. It is a wonderful experience to swim in this place and see the crystal clear water. The night show make us remember the importance of our roots, it gives me the goose bumps every time I remember it
My vacations in Puerto Vallarta
By Margarita Mendoza
Vacations are for making different things from the ones you are used in your hometown and I will tell you about my extraordinary experience in Puerto Vallarta, one of the most beautiful beaches of Mexico.
I was hosted at Rosita hotel - one of the most representatives of the city, with a history of more than 50 years- just in the city downtown. I chose it because I heard that it was one of the best places to live the experience of this little fisherman village. I have many experiences to talk about but I will write about my 1 km experience along the coastal path which makes Puerto Vallarta a lively village during the evening and specially at night where you get to know a lot of people of different nationalities.
In the first place, I did walk; do you realize that we don’t walk anymore in the big cities? I walked without rush, silently and enjoying every landscape. The architecture of the area is totally respected in a way that you will never see huge neon advertisements, instead you will see wooden ads on buildings of no more than 4 floors, of white color with red roofs that always welcome us.

Pier at Puerto Vallarta
If you walk to the south you will discover different restaurants, galleries, all kinds of shops, jewelries and along the pier you will find different characters that will make of your promenade, a colored experience. On the beachside I had the chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets that I’ve ever seen and I felt the breeze while the night was rising.
The pier boasts different sculptures, but the one that really captivated me was the one of Ramis Barquet that represents a lovers’ couple sitting with their back towards the sea and almost enjoying everything that happens around them. Another important sculpture is the famous Caballito de Mar (“seahorse” as in Spanish) located in the middle of the pier where I took a photo and kept walking towards the main square, that by the way, was amazing. Is the typical place where the town council, the Guadalupe church, the kiosk, and an open-air theater are located.
I had the chance to meet all kinds of people, young ones, old ones, mothers, fathers, kids, the man selling balloons or the man selling popsicles. This is what tourists want, get to know local people and realize that the peace of this Mexican beach can change our life for a moment.
